Beverly’s Story

Replaced bridge with dental implants.

Why did you originally have a bridge?
When I was 18, I was invovled in a head-on car collision and basically lost my teeth from the front to the middle to the back. It was horrible and devastating.
At the time I went to the best dentist and got the best they could offer: a removable bridge. While I loved the dentist, I was never happy; however, he assured me that some day dental technology would be in place to reconstruct my teeth as they should look.
Many years later he called me to let me know that I should look into dental implants and recommended I speak with Dr. Bahat.

What happened then?
Because the injuries were so old a lot of my jawbone had disappeared. Dr. Bahat was wonderful and supportive throughout the whole process. He made it clear that while it would be a long process, I would end up with teeth as close to natural as possible.
Underwent surgery for a bone graft, they took bone from my hip and grafted to what remained on my jawbone. Once the jaw was ready, they put in five posts and beautiful teeth.

Dr. Bahat is my hero. I consider the results to be both miraculous and amazing.

How was the process?
Dr. Bahat was right, the process took a long time, but at each stage they explained to me what would be happening and why. They answered any question I had.

What were your goals?
The decision to have dental implants was not difficult: my smile was critical to my business. I was a dancer and constantly in the public eye — where it’s so important to have a nice smile and good teeth.

What I had was old-fashioned and not normal—even beyond wanting to look good professionally, with the bridge I felt that I wasn’t whole.

How long has it been?
It’s been 15 years and not to have all that hardware in my mouth is great.
What advice do you have for others?
If you want to look good and feel great, dental implants may be right for you. But you have to stick to the program and remember that it’s a means to an end.
